JRE needed on Sun Solaris 8 64bit

The Sun Solaris 64 bit installation guide indicates the following requirement ‘Tamino needs version 1.3.1_01 of the Java Runtime Environment (JRE). It must be installed before you start installing Tamino’.

Is the JRE realy needed because on the Sun Solaris 64 bit Tamino Server extensions written in Java aren’t supported at this moment?

Are there other Tamino components using Java? If not, then there is realy no need to install the JRE.

If you are not installing the Tamino Tools(X-Plorer, SchemaEditor, …) on this Sun Solaris 64bit machine (but on an other system, e.g. Win), you don’t need JRE here.
