"invisible" NTD under Mandrake 9.2

On Mandrake 9.2 with kernel 2.4.22.18 we have EntireX v711 installed. I’ve obeyed the installation instructions, and everything went fine. It is installed to the default install directory (/opt/sag). I’ve installed it as root. I am able to start/stop NTD through the init script /etc/init.d/ntd.
The problem is that all binaries from EntireX’s bin directory (dcomcnfg, regsvr, sermon) complain that NTD is not running:

“1 Error: NTD is not running at the moment, please start it before using NT services.”

although it is. With “ps -ef | grep sag” I’ve verified that paulas, rpcss and ntd are really running.

What can be the cause of this problem?

The problem solved itself. I was on and on trying to run NTD through /etc/init.d/ntd, and didn’t succeed. It is supposed to run NTD under the sag user (and sag group) and it does, but it doesn’t work.

I’ve tried ‘ntwopper ntd’ in a sag login konsole (‘su - sag’), and it started working.
