Failed installation on Windows XP

Trying to install Natural_Community_Edition_v6390 on Windows XP V2002 Service Pack 3. I use the Set_up option, then select Natural from the Software AG installation window. After a few dialog boxes appear, I get an error message that says Set_Up as stopped because some files are waiting to be removed or rename at the next re-boot. It says re-boot and then run Set_Up again. I have done that several times… but receive the same message eah time. I have tried running the Setup in Windows 2000 Compatibility mode but get the same result. Any ideas???
Thanks, Jim

Hi JimQ

The installer is a bit finnicky about leftovers from previous installations.

There is an entry in the registry:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Session Manager\PendingFileRenameOperations

  • that contains files that should be renamed/deleted at reboot.
Typically after installation of some software…

I have experienced once that a printer driver got “stuck” because it tried to rename into an existing file. So I had to manually delete either the file itself or a bit simpler the registry entry.

I am not certain, but I believe that Natural requires Windows XP Pro.

Yes, I know the error message does not pertain to this, but it is worth checking so you do not waste a lot of time.
