Designer 10.1 Backwards Compatibility with IS 8.2.2 for Flow and Java Services Development?

Subject says it all.

Designer documentation doesn’t specifically say that it wouldn’t work. Curious to know if Sonica Vij or someone else from the product team can comment on that.
