Webmethods_EDI_Adapters_HIPAA Transactions BASICS

Hi,
I have knowledge of webMethods(version 6/7/8.2) /TN/Developer/Designer/Adapters(JDBC)/Brokers etc.

My new assignment says they will be having HIPAA transactions running EDI module. Please excuse, if I am mixing the terms (Since I have never worked on HIPAA yet)

pdf HIPAA 6_0_2 says under system requirement section that HIPAA needs IS version 6.0.2. Does it mean that HIPAA will not be installed/functioning on IS 8.2 version?

what are the basics required to work with HIPAA? and how it is different than JDBC adapters?

Please guide me.

Thank You,
Rakesh

No HIPPA Adapter or HIPPA Module link versions should work on IS82 and you can check the Softwareag documentation site and review the HIPPA Module/Link user guide just to understand the basics and it is totally differrent than JDBC Adapter technical wise as you are talking about.

HIPPA you can find part of the eStandards adapters.

Why only EDI is been discussed with HIPAA? what is the connection between EDI and HIPAA.

Thank you once again.
Rakesh

Please google it you will get why EDI standards being used for HIPAA processing:

HIPPA uses EDI standards thats how it works for processing HIPPA EDI X12 claims processing for example:835,834,837,269,274 (v4010 and 5010) and browse this for just terminology sake:
