can I access the Tamino server the same way as I do already access the Adabas ?

Basically - YES.

You generate a DDM from a doctype, manipulation is via the usual NATURAL DML - FIND, GET, READ, STORE, DELETE.

There are, however, restictions as far as mapping of the schema to a DDM goes.
