Renaming the package in wM6.0.1?

Hello ,

could anyone tell me how to rename a package in wM 6.0.1 version.

regards,
rds

I don’t think it’s possible to rename a package but you can always create a package with the right name and copy elements from the original package.

rdshankar,
Or if you have access to the file system, follow these steps:
disable the package to be renamed
just rename the package dir name on file system
restart the IS instance
enable the new package

(disable/enable steps are to be done for safety purposes only)

Remember, Above applies for package renaming ONLY. If you need to change any of the interface name within a package, the approach is different.

Hi,

it is not necessary to restart the instance, just recover the new package from the “Package Management” page.

Holger

Holger,
care to explain what steps you suggest?

I think you mean to say that you can use the “Activate inactive packages” option under the “Package Management” page to activate the new renamed package. (and not “recover packages” option you mentioned in your post)

I also think that it is not a good approach to do so. (because you are always better off restarting the IS instance to do any renamed package reloads)

I am again listing the steps needed to rename a package in IS:
If you have access to the file system, follow these steps:

  • disable the package to be renamed
  • just rename the package dir name on file system
  • restart the IS instance
  • enable the new package

(disable/enable steps are to be done for safety purposes only)
