Optimizer server connection error from remote Designer

Hi

I’m facing an error while trying to connect to remote Optimize server.

Connection Failed: java.lang.RuntimeException: javax.naming.NamingException: Internal lookup failed for name=jms/optimize/connection_factory [Root exception is com.pcbsys.nirvana.client.nSessionNotConnectedException: The session is not currently connected to the server. Unable to perform the request]

I can connect to it from local Designer without any issues. I can telnet to UM port 9000 from the Designer machine.

Any help greatly appreciated.

Thank you
Vamsi

Hi Vamsi,

please check if you are able to reach the optimize port (or the UM port) from remote machine at all.
you can try with either browser or telnet.

If this can be verified we will need further data:

  • UM-Version with Fix-Level
  • Optimize-Version with Fix-Level
  • Designer-Version(s) with Fix-Level

When the connection factory is being returned, there will be a try to create and connect a connection to Optimize Port.
Therefore the Optimize Ports need to be available for remote Designer as well.

Are there any entries in Designer or UM logs which will help to narrow down at which point the connection fails and why:

  • looking up factory
  • instantiating the factory

Can you check the realm if the objects have been created by Optimize during the first start?

Regards,
Holger

Hi Holger,

Thank you for the reply.

I can telnet t0 UM server on port 9000 as well as Optimize server on 12503.

All components are on base version 9.8, no fix pack have been installed.

I could see some connections from Designer box to UM in EnterpriseManager when I clicked “Test Connection”, but it returns the error.

This is the UM log during the test

Can’t see anything in the Optimize and Designer log during that time.

Thank you
