MWS Clustering in wM10.3

Hi All,

We are upgrading from wM9.7 to wM10.3.

Currently our environment wM9.7 we are having MWS in clustered. I have read in wM10.3 upgrade doc, if we want to do the MWS clustering in wM10.3, we need to have UM in place.

what are the differences, if we have Standalone MWS v/s clusted MWS

We have clustered MWS what would be impact if we change it to stand alone?

Thanks,

Hi,

the main reason for having UM in place is to share the internal user directory “system” between all nodes, consider IS in the function of central users management client a mws cluster node as well.

Using the MWS database schema as provider is deprecated meanwhile.

So you will need UM anyway, regardless if you use Broker or UM (or nothing at all, depends on your scenario) as Messaging Provider, at least for the central users management repository.

Holger

Hi Guys,

Quick question. We have 1 MWS instance with task engine and upgrading to 10.3

Is it possible to use MWS without Universal Messaging? Disable clustering at all.

Hi,

depends on which other compenents your are using and if you want to configure central users management for them.

As the database JMS provider for central users management is deprecated since 9.12 it is neccessary to use the UM JMS Provider instead for this feature.

Holger

Thank You Holger,

We are using central users management, TaskEngine, CAF pages, BPM.
Not sure what we will do by this forced usage of UM. Not sure that we have license for UM and we didn’t had plan to migrate Broker to UM now.

Krasimir

Hi Krasimir,

as Broker is deprecated and will be retired in the near future you should consider migrating to UM when upgrading to 10.3 or newer.

Last Broker version is 9.6.

Additionally, starting from wM 10.3 Broker can no longer be installed in the same installation directory as other webMethods components but requires its own installation directory.
It also needs to be downloaded to a separate installation image if image-based installation is needed.
