Inbound FTP of flatfile

Has anyone experienced problems with processing inbound FTP of flatfiles in 8.1?

I have defined a ffdata object within my service that I FTP the flat file to but my FTP session returns a error (due to service failing) and ends.

The server log will show the following entry:
XMLCoder decode invalid data type: wm.server.net.FTPInputStream

A save and restore of pipeline does not show a ffdata object within the pipeline.

Any suggestions?

no ffdata in saved pipeline is correct, savepipeline can’t save object.
From the error message, it seems you process flatfile but assign file type as XML.
