What does N@ and L@ mean in an oracle DDM of natural adabas

hello everyone.
in an oracle ddm, N@filed and L@fields are created .
What are they used for and how are they used?

I use Natual One

N@ is a NULL indicator
L@ is a length indicator

See the DDM documentation

For clarity: “N@” is for emulating SQL “NULL” not ADABAS “Null Suppressed”.

Meaning the value in the field is undefined, i.e. field has not been assigned a value.

With ADABAS we know that there is always a default value (blank or zero).

“L@” is giving the current length or a variable length string.

This can be useful in many situations,

e.g. doing an EXAMINE replace
