We are upgrading from 6.5 to 8.2. We haven’t been using MWS in 6.5 and so don’t have the associated license. Since TN is deprecated in 8.2, I am assuming we would have to install MWS in order to have TN transaction analysis. In this case, do we have to purchase the license for MWS?

Yes. MWS is required to do all TN related activities like partner profile creation, TN transaction analysis viewing etc., TN Console was initially available as a deprecated asset. May be you can check with SAG Support if they will provide you TN Console… However, permanent solution would be moving towards MWS, and that would require additional license.
