Temporary Working Space !

How can i increase it, because of Mass Load ?

We have 2 X 450 MB XML-Datas, we must load it into Tamino v3114 . We have now only 4 MB Temporary Sorking Space. Firstly we needed for it 18 hours. Now we must load second teil with increased Temporary Working Space. But we don’t know how can i increase it !!

Thank you in advance

Serdar

Hi,

the amount of temporary working space available depends only on your amount of disk space available. If you’re using Win2k you will also need enough disk space on the partition where WINNT\system32 resides. If the temporary working location of your db resides on a partition with 10 GB free space, than you have 10 GB of temporary working space available.

Thank you Jan !

We have a

SunOS 5.8 Generic_108528-21 sun4u sparc SUNW,Sun-Fire

and we have a enough space on the partition but it shows us only 4 MB ! Why ?

smh :

Platform (pino1host )—>>> Tamino —>>> Databases —>>> Database SPACES

shows us :

journal space 1 1000,00 MB P_INO_1

Hi,

these sizes are the current sizes of all the different files, i.e. currently 4MB temporary working space are used. The temporary working space increases automatically to the size required by Tamino up to the available free space. There is nothing you have to change.

Thank you Jan !

But Mass Load takes very long !

( 18 hours for 450 MB Data )

What is your suggestion ? What can we do ?

Do you mean, it depends on the operating system
method FDATASYNCH used by Tamino for synchronous IO-Processing !! ( from Tecnical Paper ; Delay of commit or buffer flush processing ! )

thank you in advance.

kind Regards,
Serdar

Hi,

well, 18 hours for 450MB is really long…

First I suggest to upgrade at least to Tamino 3.1.2 if you are still using 3.1.1.4
Second the time required depends mainly on the processor speed, the number and size of documents and the number of indexes set in the schema. This means to increase mass load performance you could either use faster hardware (the more GHz the processor has, the better…) or reduce the number of indexes used in the schema. With a 1.7 GHz single processor machine a performance of ~ 0.5 GB / hour is possible with Tamino 3.1 so it looks like there is room for improvement…

we want to upgrade to v4 . We have

SunOS 5.8 Generic_108528-21 sun4u sparc SUNW,Sun-Fire

with 8 CPU, each 900 MHz .

It is really very fast.

OK, Jan ! I wish you a happy day.

Thank you for your very helpfully information.
