Hi!
To install WM server, we need to use the root user under UNIX. Our UNIX admins are not happy with this, so I wonder why the installation needs to be run by root. What are the technical reasons?
Any comments will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance!
I remember with Enterprise 4.x we had a similar issue except they did let us install as root. We could not run as root. We did manage to configure our Solaris install to run ES as a user without root prililedge after some help from support.
As far as I know you need root to install, there is no way round this. I believe it is because scripts are places in the rc3.d directory.
You could always get them to do the install and configure it so you can execute and stop/start as another user.
