Pardon my ignorance… I’m just learning how to spell ADABAS.

I have been given the task of getting ADABAS 7.1 running as a backup site. ADABAS starts and, almost immediately, terminates with a USER ABEND 020. DDPRINT says:

PARM-ERROR 047 DETECTED DURING SYSTEM-OPEN
I/O-ERROR WHEN READING WORK BLOCK 1
OR DURING FORMATTING WORK LPAREA.
ADAIOR-RESPONSE: 9E (HEX)

Any help ?

Following explanation is given:- One possible reason of the problem is a too large LP parameter. The error message appears during Adabas startup if the LP parameter specifies more blocks than the WORK dataset was formatted with.
Somehow it could be a mismatch between the LP size you are putting in your ADARUN and WORK dataset. Default LP=1000 for ADABAS-7.1
So, try formatting WORK dataset again and include the right LP size.

Now, I have to fix the next error.

I am beginning to think that the database was dumped while still open. What I was sent was a dump-by-dataset and it was NOT an ADABAS utility that created it.

I’ve sent the new errors back to the group.
