how to find a filed position in Mainframe ADABAS DB

Hi,

I have added a new field to the existing ADABAS DB and I would like to know the column position of this newly added field. Is there anyway please advise.

Adaabs is field based, so there is no fixed column position.

In what context would you need to know a “column position” ?

I have to fill one process document which is mandatory to get ADABAS DBA approval for adding new column in DB. In that document, it has few columns: the field position from, to , data type and length we have to specify.

You don’t need a starting or ending position to add an elementary field to Adabas. Perhaps those entries are on the form for descriptor (key) definitions, where the value is based on a portion of a field.
