Encoding type of the EDI file

Hi,

Is there any way to find out the encoding type of an EDI file? (like latin, chinees, UTF etc…)

There are different standards that are under the umbrella term of EDI. Which one do you need? X12 does not have an element in the file to indicate the character set so you’ll need to coordinate with the partner. EDIFACT uses UNB1 segment to indicate character set. I’m not sure about other standards like TRADACOMS, ODETTE, EANCOM, etc.
