EI 4.5.1 won't start

We have an issue with WM Enterprise Integrator 4.5.1 (110601) on Win XP Pro SP2.

When started by the local administrator user that installed it, it runs fine. When started by another user (another user with local administrator privileges) it…doesn’t start at all. It silently fails, and a Windows application event is recorded:

Event Type: Information
Event Source: DrWatson
Event Category: None
Event ID: 4097
Date: 24/10/2006
Time: 6:19:57 PM
User: N/A
Computer: SSBS-7Z1SK1S
Description:
The application, C:\Programs\wment41\bin\ei.exe, generated an application error The error occurred on 10/24/2006 @ 18:19:56.976 The exception generated was c0000005 at address 7C93426D (ntdll!RtlInitializeContext) For more information, see Help and Support Center at Microsoft Support.

Does anyone have a fix for this? I’m asking here as EI 4.5.1 is out of support now.

BTW, we are in the process of migrating all our WM4 apps to WM6, so we don’t need to be told to do that!

Thanks in advance,
Michael

Hello,
Was the application intened to be installed as user ‘administrator’ and then run as another user in the administrator group? Maybe you can install the application under the account that will run application. Also, double check under ‘users and groups’ under computer management that the administrators group does show all the user names you designated.

Alternatively, you should make sure that the folder hierarchy has given ‘full control’ privledges to the users that will be running the application. These are suggestions and not proven solutions. Good day.

After messing around for a while, it’s turned out to be an installation mistake. When EI installs, it asks “A newer version of client45.jar already exists – do you want to replace it?”. Responding “no”, thus keeping the newer JAR, only the user who installed EI can run it. By overwriting the JAR with the older version, it all started working.

Thanks,
Michael
