Are you looking for process monitoring, like what the “top” command provides, or for a job scheduler like UC4 ( http://www.uc4.com/solutions_linux_strategies_with_uc4global.htm ) ?
We are trying to migrate a system from a BS2000 platform to a Solaris UNIX and we need a method to do the job of the scheduler on the mainframe.

The command “top” is available on Solaris 8 and bigger, but I guess it’s not properly implemented.
See a (German) discussion on a linux-forum:

If you’re after a scheduler, take a look at UC4, I have only heard positive reports about this product.
