xmlImport.xml

In the CAF sample projects, I can see the following file which automatically deploys portal pages and other objects when the project is deployed.

./WebContent/WEB-INF/xmlImport.xml

Is there any way to create this file without hand-editing in a text editor? Is there any documentation?
