Can any of u explain, what is the use of ProcessManager in Optimize?

From Optimize user guide pg 10:
“For Optimize, the controller also contains a process manager, which tracks the state of
executing business processes. As a process executes, the process manager takes
measurements and looks for anomalies or interesting events. These items can be used to
track performance of a business process or to alert you when certain conditions exist, such
as performance degradation, a failure in process execution, or a positive event such as a
dollar amount on an order crossing an upper threshold. By default, Optimize installs the
process manager in the same location as the controller, but the Optimize administrator
can install it in a separate location later to improve performance.”
