I’d like to know if I can search for system variables.

Hi,

Once the application has been extracted and loaded, use the Field Viewer.

Under Environment → Field Explorer → Field Viewer

This will show a dialog. From the menu here, selected:

Field Types → System Variables.

Should show you where the system variables are used.
