Are there 2 adapters for SAP, one for general SAP to WM connectivity and another separate adapter for ALE ?

there are 2 SAP Adapters, depending on which IS version you are using.
SAP 4.6 SP5 FP1 will be used for IS versions 6.1 and before,
SAP 6.5 (SP1) needs to be used with IS version 6.5 and newer.
The main functionality should be the same, but the places for configuring connections, maps, routings and so on changed.
See the appropriate readmes for details.
SAP 4.6 can be downloaded directly from the Software Download Center,
SAP 6.5 needs to be downloaded and installed with the Installer.
