How about an FAQ-List with links to older discussions?
Example:
“Migration Mainframe → Open Systems”

One possible solution is to fix the Thread or an other is to move it to a seperate Subforum and fix it there.

Hmmm, the most phpBB-forums I know got “Sascha’s solution”…
I think a wiki might be a valuable thing, but it’s not the same as having a FAQ post here in the forum. (The FAQ post might point to the wiki.)
Didn’t Jim Wisdom say at the conference that he plans to set up a wiki on his site?
