Envelope functions add a line feed and carriage control character by default

I am trying to use the edi envelope functions but as a default the functions will output both a line feed and a carriage control characters. My partner required just one character and not both. When I set the delimeter to \u000a, it literally ends up in the resulting string - I’ve tried everything and have hit the end
