We’re running B2B in a clustered environment. Currently we turn off Reverse Invoke prior to taking our db offline for a nightly backup. We have BCV volumes, so we stop the DB, take a snapshot, restart, and then backup the snapshot.
The manager of our DBA group suggested hot and/or point-in-time backups. Looking through the wMUsers forums, I see recommendations against point-in-time. Unfortunately, GEAR didn’t provide the insight I was hoping to find.
I’d like to hear from the user community. How do all of you handle backups? What are the best practices for maximizing uptime without risking quality/recoverability?
