Question about migrating to Itanium that also runs Oracle

Hi,

I’ve been tossed the question about moving an existing 6.5 installation that’s running on HP-UX onto an Itanium platform. The system onto which the migration might happen is also running Oracle DB server. Is this a good idea or should it have its own dedicated system that it runs on (and are there any known issues running 6.5 on Itanium?)

Obviously it depends on the configuration of your server (especially in term of memory), and the workload you’re expecting.

Our previous system was an HP-PA box that carry both the IS which is quite busy and its database, and we didn’t suffer for performances (well, in fact, we had problems but relative to the way wM manages database and not to this box horse power).
