Migration from Unix (AIX) to Linux (Redhat)

Adabas/Natural

Is there a comprehensive guide to the set of tools and processes for migration of Adabas/Natural from AIX to Redhat?

Also, should I have to migrate to the latest version of Adabas/Natual before undertaking the migration?

Hi,

it is recommended to update to the latest version for AIX before migrating to Redhat, as it cannot be guaranteed, that all of your current fixes are available for Redhat, eventually only newer ones exist for Redhat.

Therefore, please check which set of fixes is available on both OSes in the identical version.

Thank you @Holger_von_Thomsen. Can you also help me understand the tools and the process to upgrade? Also how much manual effort is needed. Much appreciated.

Hi,

unfortunately, I am no longer able to assist you here as I never have worked with Adabas & Natural, I was using the webMethods Suite for Integrations.

Ok, no worries Holger. Hopefully someone else can help. I could not find any other online resources outlining the approach, hence the question. Thanks.

Hi,

Remember to read the release notes between versions. Also, check if you have binary fields in Adabas, so they should be converted when going to Linux.

Marco
