This year’s conference of the International User Groups was held June 13-17 in Dresden—a cultural, educational, political and economic center of Germany. Dresden was recently voted one of the most beautiful German cities.

Who was there?

Almost 400 delegates from 200+ companies from 36 countries all over the world participated in this year’s International User Groups Conference. Many major, long-standing and loyal customers attended, including Johnson & Johnson, Lufthansa AG, BMW, AXA, Kuehne & Nagel, Philips and BASF, just to name a few.

Highlights

We kept our proven conference format of a whole week of back-to-back product-related sessions featuring all our major product brands. We offered a well-balanced mix of customer presentations, information from Software AG and discussion rounds.

First up were the Adabas and Natural tracks as well as a session for the Alfabet user group. Next, the webMethods and ARIS sessions ran in parallel for the last two days of the conference.

The focus of Adabas session was on Adabas integration, performance, and monitoring. The hot topic during the Natural track addressed how to manage the generational change and get young people excited about Natural development.

The Alfabet program included interactive sessions on digital transformation, IoT, service product portfolio management, and cloud planning and management. During the ARIS session, topics revolved around ARIS Enterprise Cloud, GRC, enterprise performance management and analytics. Major topics in the webMethods track included API management, agile processes, hybrid integration and webMethods-Apama Integration.

A common program segment geared toward the interests of all audiences linked the product sessions. It featured the keynote addresses by Dr. Wolfram Jost and Eric Duffaut. The latter included an interactive element with live demos, interviews and a presentation by our partner Roundcube.

The event concluded with the official opening of the “IUG-Marketplace” with nine demo stations from Software AG and our partners CloudGen, Cognizant, CrossVista, Ferrologic, Roundcube and Savangard.

In addition to presentations, live demos and discussions, there was also plenty of time for networking. In a very open and friendly atmosphere, all attendees took advantage of the opportunity to connect and share their experiences with a global community of their peers from other industries as well as their own. Two very well received evening events provided additional opportunities for one-on-one interactions.

Participant feedback

“People make the difference.” This is feedback we received again and again. Our customers perceived the conference as highly productive and beneficial to their daily jobs.
