effect of java 7 and heap size on throughput and scalability on IS

Hi,

I have recently upgraded clustered Integration server to Java 7 and 8GB heap size. Will it be good idea to use instead two 4GB IS or this setup is fine ? Second, I have gained much by upgrading Java 6 to 7. Do any of you have got performance gain ?

When you do 2 IS and split RAM then it is horizontal scaling
When do single IS and increase RAM then it is vertical scaling

There are advantages and disadvantages…
