Devicemanagment UI - Parent link

Hi Community,
please see my question below.

What product/components do you use and which version/fix level?

Cumulocity
Backend: 1011.0.12
UI: 1010.0.24

Are you using a free trial or a product with a customer license?

License

What are trying to achieve? Please describe in detail.

I would like to understand why in the device-management UI there is no Link to the parent device.
Or is it somehow hidden that I did not find it yet?

Is there any other reason?

Is there any workaround or I am supposed to use Browser back button (when I use a direct link there is no browser back information available).

Thank you
BR Manfred

I’m not aware of anything other than the back button in this situation.

Maybe a good idea for a Feature Request.

Hi Robert,
it seems there is already a ticket over there.

https://cumulocityiot.ideas.aha.io/ideas/C8YCORE-I-354.

Almost a year old… it seams this is floating there until its forgotten… :frowning:

I really think this would improve device-management essentially.

Looking into this, the idea has made it on to R&Ds ‘to do’ list and discussions were taking place as recently as last week.

Current thinking.

  • A challenge is that a child device can be (in theory) child of multiple parent devices
  • The group assignment widget shows which groups a device belongs in, could this widget be extended to also show parent devices?
  • Next step: Make a proposal on how we could visualize parent devices in the device detail view

Hi Robert / Team.

I am wondering if there is any update about this subject?

I am interested.

I am not sure,
I’m not aware of anything other than the back button in this situation.

I want to lern how to develop a software.

It’s still on the ‘To Do’ list - no further progress yet.
