Inventory role - not able to create smartgroup

Hello,

We created an Inventory Role, assigned it to a subgroup, and granted permission to Change inventory. However, were unable to create a smart group for any particular reason. And also is there a way to prevent user with this role from performing delete operations?

I could imagine this is because Smart Groups are always root groups - and Inventory Role User can only create groups being inside the Device Group they have access.
